McNish relived some of the special moments in his 36-year motorsport career at an RAC Club members’ event. Allan was also reacquainted with the RAC Tourist Trophy that he won in 2013 after steering his Audi R18 e-tron quattro to victory in the Six Hours of Silverstone.

The 2013 FIA World Endurance Champion then attended the "Jim Clark Weekend". Organised by Club Lotus and the Jim Clark Trust and held in Clark’s hometown of Duns, the event marked the 50 year anniversary of his remarkable 1965 season.

“The weekend was a blast," recounted McNish. "I was able to relive some of my Le Mans stories from over the years and the impact the race had on my career and my life from Ecurie Ecosse winning in 1956 & ’57 to today. It was clear to see the British love affair with the Circuit de la Sarthe still is as strong as ever with so many club members attending the annual private Le Mans dinner.

“I was pleased and indeed proud, that the club brought out the Tourist Trophy for the evening, the oldest trophy in motorsport dating back to 1905, and a trophy that Tom Kristensen, Loïc Duval and I won at Silverstone in our World Championship winning year. The history and prestige of the trophy is well known in the German automobile industry to the extent that after we’d won that race, an Audi AG Board Member in charge of Motorsport asked the RAC if he could take the trophy home for it to sit on the Audi Boardroom table in Ingolstadt on Monday morning to show what had been won!

“I’m a Patron of The Jim Clark Trust which is dedicated to promoting the inspiration and legacy of the late double Formula One World Champion. It’s the 50th anniversary of when Jim clinched his second F1 World title, won the Indianapolis 500, the Formula 2 and the Tasman Championships – an incredible season at the time and unparalleled to this day.

“The Jim Clark Trust put on an incredible event. It was perfectly in the spirit, tradition and passion of Jim. I was privileged to drive one of his race winning Lotus 25’s, to sit in his seat, notch the gear lever into first gear and drive away was a huge honour. Jim Clark, even 50 years on from his stunning season, still inspires young racing drivers.
